Nat Alexander

Along with an early interest in hip-hop, Nat Alexander was, like Shanghai_Ultra, a listener to John Peel’s radio show and wanted (though didn’t get) his first set of decks at the age of fourteen. He started listening to dance music in earnest at the start of the arrival of the rave scene in the UK; interested in early German trance on labels like Harthouse, he was also exposed to Laurent Garnier, Steve Bicknell and Colin Faver in his early days of clubbing. While at university, he went to a Lost night at The End and saw Juan Atkins and Derrick May for the first time and was able to hear the Detroit techno which he had been buying for some time played in the perfect environment. At the same club he also heard many of the great Chicago DJs at the time of the rejuvenation of that city’s scene, largely due to Cajual / Relief Records. Nat Alexander’s sets encompass music from across the dance music spectrum: genre categorisation falls by the wayside, there is simply music that rocks, and that which does not.
